Dream of Spring

I just found out about and signed up for the swap at Vintage Indie. I'm super excited about participating in it. I for one am so excited for Spring to come! It's the best time of year. Actually it's a toss up with summer, but I love feeling the sun on my legs afterthey've been hidden away all winter. I love not having dirty snow piled up on the sides of the freeway. I love lemonade stands and flower blossoms. Taking walks to get the mail and wearing sandals. Not having to wear a coat to go somewhere. Not having to find the kids coats to go somewhere. Hearing the birds in the morning, I could go on, but as required here are the answers to the questions:

a. What's your favorite part of spring? sun , being warm

b. What are your favorite flowers?poppies, dasies

c. What types of hobbies/crafts do you enjoy? knitting, embroidery, painting, working with felt

d. What types of vintage do you collect or look for?pyrex, needlework, quietbooks, jadeite, cookie cutters, sea glass, tea cups, kitchen items, I could go on and on...
e. Any allergies or things that you absolutely can't stand? wet dogfood, cigarettes, "country cute", puff paint, the comeback of 80's fashion

Yo-yo

I never liked yo-yos. They always reminded me of old people. Not that old people are bad, it's just one of those things for me. Anyhow, I never liked yo-yos until I discovered the yo yo flower maker! I think these are wonderful, I have big plans for making little hair ties, borders on baskets, bouquets on jean skirts and all sorts of other things. I may at some point decide to try making a circle yo yo wall hanging. I seriously under appreciated this art form!

Birds of A Feather

Just some of the things I've been working on this week. The first is a bird papercut I did for my Sister in laws birthday that was last week. I hope to get it out in the mail this week.
The other one is inspired thanks to Heather Bailey. She has a pattern on her page for some fabulous "party chic"place cards. We have a function at church where we need to make gift bags for all the ladies in attendance. I thought these cute chics would be fun to stick on the front of the bags. They have to be really simple because we need 50 of them. I do plan on making some similar to the ones Heather has on her page (heatherbailey.typepad.com). So cute, with tin and sparklies and everything. You will love them, go look. Also, signups for the swap are extended to Tuesday, please sign up, we've had a great response, it's going to be fun!!

Anyone up for an Easter Swap?

I really love Easter. I love candy Robbins eggs, the pretty colors, fake plasticy colored grass, MilkyWay eggs, hiding baskets, dying eggs, hiding eggs, fuzzy animals and Spring. It's always been one of my faves. So, on that note, I think it would be tons of fun to do an Easter themed Swap. Send me your name and info via e-mail at jezzc at hotmail dot com. I'll send you the name of someone to mail a fun Easter package to then I'll send your name to meone else. You can put whatever items you like in it, as long as there's an Easter theme and one handmade item. You must say if you're willing to ship international and deadline to ship out is March 15. That's a little under a month to do this. Make sure it's something that you would like to recieve as well. Tell everyone you know and let's get hoppin! Deadline to sign up will be this Friday the 22. I'll e-mail who you'll be shipping to by next Monday. Thanks!!

Happy Valentines

Last week we were watching Martha and she made these amazing pop-up cards. Of course the pictures are pretty blurry thanks to my great camera. These were fun to make and very easy. The kids love having themselves pop up when they open their cards. It was a day full of love around here. We woke up to cards and chocolates from Daddy. We ended the day with heart shaped waffles, topped with freshly made whipped cream and strawberries served on cute Valentines plates from Target for dinner. Everyone went to bed happy and content. Can you ask for anything more?

Paper cut

I saw these on Marthas page awhile ago and thought they would be the perfect grandparent valentine. I went and got the Martha craft knife at Michaels and I have to say I think it made this project a lot easier. The handle on it is soft, so it doesn't hurt your fingers after using it for a long time like the metal ones sometimes do. I have not glued this to the brown background yet, because I can't decide if I like the brown or not. I can see how this would be an addicting hobby!

cute

These are cute. They are from the cute book. If you need a cute fast project, just so you feel like you've done something crafty during the day, that's the book to get. Somehow I'm going to incorporate these into the quiet books, but I haven't figured out how yet.

Eye Spy with my little eye....

I'm working on my quiet books slowly but surely. I've accomplished finishing 0 pages at this point, but have lots of bits and pieces of other pages finished. One of the pages is an "eye spy" page. I just made these eye spy bags, one for each of the older kids. They were so easy and they love them! I was really astonished at the small things I had in my house. 1 cm size snakes, itty bitty pigs, mini tools, the list just goes on and on, but I do love how they turned out!
