Embroidery

This is a little mini quilt I made for one of my my best pals for her birthday, hopefully she's received it by now and this isn't ruining the surprise for her;) This is my first embroidered piece. It was so much fun coloring with string! I loved doing the satin stitch and seeing it all come together. By the way if you're doing the embroidered buttons swap, please get those in!

Live, Laugh,Grow

So, where have you been you might ask? These three munchkins keep me busy. They aren't allowed to be bored over the summer, so apparently that means they need to be entertained. That's ok though, I love this time of year. Even though I'm not finishing the projects I'd like to accomplish, I'm really enjoying spending time with my kids!
I was able to accomplish something this week that I wanted to do. Here is the other skirt I made to raffle off during the classes I'm teaching at church. This one is to demonstrate the freezer paper stencil. It says Live Laugh and Grow. It's size 12 months.
I swear freezer paper stencils are one of the coolest things ever. I always feel so delighted when I figure out how to do something and then complete it!
This was the other big thing I did today. A candy gram. My BFF in Idaho makes these a lot. I had not seen one since high school when girls made them to ask boys to Sadies, but they really are so much fun to do! My Brownie troop had a swim party and bbq today. We had one Mom volunteer to help out. I wanted her to know how much we appreciated her, so I made this. I think there's a lot more of these in our future.....teacher appreciation, visiting teaching, birthdays, just because, teachers.........

Mind Meanderings

I've just returned home from being on vacation for a week. It's always so hard to return home. We spent the week in South Dakota going up to get the kids. We were able to watch the fireworks at Mt Rushmore, catch fish, play in the woods, run through the sprinklers, march in the 4th of July parade, do nothing and eat lots of yummy food. Now we're home. Now there's laundry, phone calls to make, shopping to do, and preparations for the next big trip in a week and a half. Needless to say I have nothing crafty to post today, However I have been working on things. Embroidery projects for Mokis school of craft and for the button swap. Freezer paper stencils for the class I'm teaching in August, knitted baby gifts for friends having babies, and travel boxes for 12 hour road trips. Our next trip takes us to my high school reunion. This is a picture of my prom 10 years ago. I really can't believe it's been 10 years! It's so funny how all the stupid high school insecurities are all coming back in preparation for this event, what am I going to wear, how will I do my hair, who am I going to sit by, blah...blah..blah.. I'm always so envious of girls who seem to just be seeping of self confidence. It's something I work on daily. Anyhow, there is much to be done this week, hopefully I'll have some fun pics to post of all the amazing things I hope to accomplish!
