Mother Earth and Her Children

I saw these two books in the Living Craft magazine that I picked up not too long ago. I ordered them through Amazon and they just finally came! The Mother Earth and Her Children book is amazing! It's all quilted. The pictures scanned in do not do it justice. I'm sure that the pictures in the book don't even do it justice. All the applique on all the little itty bitty leaves and the embroidery on the little children is just phenomenal. It's one of those books that you pick up and it inspires you do create things. Which is why I also picked up the Making Flower Children book. I have visions of sitting down with my daughter and making little flower children for her to play with in her Fairie house. That's what tonight is all about, right? Setting lofty goals and what-not. I'm excited for all the possibilities that this new year is bringing. Happy New Year to you!

Magic Christmas Eve Potion

A wonderful family in my ward brought over this really fun surprise last night, that I think I'm going to have to turn into a family tradition. It's Magic Christmas Eve Potion. The contents of the box are: mini candy canes, Hot chocolate mix, chocolate bells, tree shaped marshmallows and the instructions.

Merry Christmas Eve Potion

"guaranteed" to help children fall asleep fast so that Santa can come!

In a mug, mix hot chocolate package with a cup of warm water. Drop in the jolly jingle bell, stir with the elf-sized candy cane and top with the magic marshmallows. Hurry to bed and let visions of sugarplums fill your head!

Isn't that so clever? I love it.

Magic Loop

What you are looking at here is the beginnings of my first sock. I've never made one and so far I'm pleased with how it's coming along. I'm learning how to do it using the Magic loop method. There are no DPs involved, just one set of Circs. And it's even going fairly quickly. I have grand ideas of becoming really great at these and knitting 24 mini wool felted ones to use as an advent calendar for next year. Christmas is only 3 days away, I am so excited!! I am happy to report I was also able to go China Free except for 3 or 4 things. It can be done! I had to give in on a couple of Power Ranger things and a snow shovel. I also love how this year my children still full on believe in Santa and all that is magical about Christmas. I know that with each year that comes we are closer to losing that. Anyhow, it's off to start the day. There is much to do!

How in the world...

is there only 1 full week left until Christmas? I'm not ready. There's still shopping to be done, baking to do, gifts to wrap, cards to send, joy to spread and service to give. I do love this time of year with the kids though. They are absolutly what make things so magical and enjoyable right now. Hopefully another post tomorrow, I'm 1/4 of the way done on my first knitted sock, in the middle of making marshmallows and other fun things. Perhaps we'll write more on those in the morning.

Forest Friends

We're scurrying around trying to get things finished for Christmas. This is on it's way to becoming a pillow.
