Dia de Los Muertos

Some of the things in life that I have always loved have been the amazing folk art of Mexico and the celebration of Dia de los Muertos. This past week my littlest sister has been in town staying with me. I have found that if she has a project to focus on our lives run a lot smoother. Rather than pulling out the same old things I thought this time we would try something we've never done before. At the library I found a book about crafts for Day of the dead. In it was instructions on how to make embossed painted tin. I have always loved that! I have vintage pieces hanging in my kitchen from my Grandmother. We copied the pattern, bought the supplies and went to town. I could not be happier with the result. I'm already thinking of more ideas I want to do with these. Maybe make a set to nail into the front door or up on the clothesline? The options are endless. I think this year we will also be making a small shrine to our deceased relatives to celebrate. And of course it will include some of these. If only I had more hours in the day!
